In early December The Fax Guys were busy. It is only one of 2 weeks the entire year that we have all the Fax Guys in Minnesota for an entire week. It’s great to have our out-of-state team members “home”. We generally try to squeeze as much in as possible. Important meetings, training, social events, customer visits, team building activities and the like. We also try to spend some time participating in an activity that reaches out beyond our walls and into our community.
In December, we decided to work with a wonderful organization called The Sandwich Project Minnesota to prepare and deliver sandwiches to some of Minnesota’s neediest population. The task was really fun and simple! Thanks to Coborn’s Delivers (a grocery delivery service in Minnesota), we had all the supplies delivered right to our door. We then split our employees into 3 equal teams and embarked on making 600 sandwiches! You will never guess how long it took us—- 45 minutes! Can you believe that? It got pretty competitive and in the end the teams finished neck-in-neck. Even our OpenText rep., Rick joined in on the fun!
So, what do you do when you have an office filled with 600 sandwiches? You deliver them! Some of The Fax Guys drove to Minneapolis to Sharing and Caring Hands, a charitable organization that cares for some of the poorest families in our state. We were told our sandwiches would be shared with hungry school-children that afternoon.
All in all, it was a great experience for our group to do something so simple and with minimal effort and feed so many! We highly recommend this type of volunteer opportunity!
