We can help you prevent fax server downtime with redundancy.
There are many contributors that can cause your fax server to fail where you cannot send, receive or manage your paper communications. It really doesn’t matter what the reason is, what matters is how you can avoid it and the expensive, time-consuming consequences associated with unexpected downtime. No one can control outages and equipment failure or natural disasters, but we certainly can be prepared when these events occur with a redundant solution.
Why would I need a redundant fax server?
Your fax server handles mission-critical tasks for your organization every day. Business transactions like pharmaceutical prescriptions, doctors’ orders, patient information, financial statements, stock trades, orders to be fulfilled and the like, need to be sent via your secure fax environment. If faxing is down, business can be down too.
What disaster recovery options are available?
The RightFax Shared Services Module enables two to four RightFax Servers to operate as a single unit by sharing a single database. It increases performance and capacity by distributing workload across servers. The module adds high availability through duplication of critical system functions, so it can keep running even if sites or servers go offline.
Why implement RightFax in a Shared Services Environment?
RightFax is a standalone single server that can be configured for business continuity.
Simply said: When a single server goes down, you cannot fax
A Shared Services environment, depending on the implementation, can provide: Business continuity, Disaster Recovery, Redundancy, Scalability, High Availability
Why would you implement RightFax in a Shared Services Environment?
Organizations put a lot of value on mission-critical fax servers and rely heavily on them to run their business.
Server downtime can be very costly: A heavily used RightFax server can easily cost a business thousands or tens of thousands of dollars in lost productivity or lost business for every hour that it is unavailable.
Some questions to consider…
- What is an acceptable outage for your company’s fax communication?
- Is an outage with reduced capacity acceptable?
- Do you require multi-site disaster recovery?
Several fax servers in a specific configuration sharing common RightFax data are considered a server collective. These are multiple RightFax application servers sharing a common data tier and telephony resources.
Benefits of a Server Collective are:
- Throughput for sending faxes increases because internal loads are shared among some of the fax server services
- Multiple Fax Servers share all of the data in the RightFax database— users, delegates, phonebook entries, distribution lists and document data such as fax status. The data is available to all the administrators and clients in the network. Administrators manage this information in one central location for all servers in the shared configuration.
- All received faxes are stored on the SQL Server and are available to all clients in the network
- A common database helps maintain integrity of RightFax data
- Redundant data is eliminated, saving storage space
- Scalability is ensured; RightFax software does not limit the number of fax servers that can share a common database
- Loads are balanced across the collective. RightFax services are shared by multiple machines to balance the workload from many RightFax clients
Components of a Server Collective:
- 2 to 4 RightFax Enterprise servers
- Shared Services Module
- SQL Server
- Installs on a Windows Server 2008 or 2008R2
RightFax install can be software only (FoIP). No physical fax boards are required, but boards are still an option. Can be installed on physical or virtual servers (RightFax can be run in VM Ware or Hyper-V)
